The Kotilingeshwara Temple in Kolar, Karnataka, India, is a relatively young temple but a popular one, especially for devotees of Lord Shiva. 'Koti' in Kannada means 'crore' (ten million), and the temple lives up to its name with the world's tallest Shivalinga – a massive 108 feet tall!
Inaugurated in 1980 by Swami Sambha Shiva Murthy, the temple complex houses not just this giant Shivalinga but also over 90 lakh (nine million) smaller Shivalingas spread over a vast 15 acres.
